This research offers a thorough examination of the political coalitions formed under the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) between 2020 and 2023. The Pakistan Democratic Movement PDM, an alliance of various opposition parties at that time, became a pivotal entity in opposing Prime Minister Imran Khan's administration and the dominant Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party (PTI). This analysis delves into the themes of unity, leadership, strategies, fragmentation, and the broader implications for democracy, shedding light on the complexities and obstacles encountered by the PDM during its active years. The research indicates that despite the PDM's initial success in bringing together various political factions in opposition to the government, it eventually fell prey to internal discord, leadership conflicts, and strategic disputes. These findings highlight significant challenges within Pakistan's democratic framework, such as political polarization, institutional integrity, and the role of non-elected entities.
By highlighting the insights gained from the PDM's experience, this research enhances our comprehension of political alliances and the democratic processes within Pakistan's changing political environment.
