Leveraging AI ChatGPT as a Research Assistant: An Analysis of Its Impact on Productivity and Research Output among Graduate Students in Pakistan

I, explicitly conversational AI like ChatGPT, is quickly growing in personal as well as professional settings, proposing cost-cutting as well as innovative chances for businesses. This technology, skillful of representing human-like dialogues, grips potential across many industries, possibly improving efficiency through human-AI association. This research examines the effect of AI particularly ChatGPT on graduate students in Pakistan, evaluating its effect on research output as well as productivity. A questionnaire used to collect the data from 350 graduate students from Government post graduate college, Samanabad, Faisalabad. A mixed method was used for this study. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was applied for the qualitative analysis. SPSS software was used to get the frequency of the students. Different challenges related to AI uncovered i.e. technical obstacles, ethical concerns, and output. This study revealed students’ real-world experience in routing ChatGPT incorporation. Technology acceptance model revealed the perceived ease of use and usefulness in persuading technology approval. It has been analyzed that student perceived the benefits of ChatGPT in their research and related activities. It meaningfully influences their productivity. It means students can use the ChatGPT for productivity in research work and to improve the quality. In this way, students find more motivation and interest in their research work and have easy access to their material. They can summarize easily their research work, i.e. literature review, abstract, methods and more related to research activities. It has been observed that all graduate students are not efficient in using ChatGPT. So, they should be guided properly by their instructors. They should guide the students about other aspects like plagiarism and ethical concerns while using ChatGPT. The results of this research deal a substance for making informed policies, adopting accountable AI incorporation in academic settings. With visions into user trials, future expansions can decontaminate effort on decontaminating AI procedures, improving user sustenance apparatuses, and modifying educational programs to prepare graduate students for the developing land of research approaches.
