Role of “Oudh Panch” Magazine in Promotion of Urdu Satire

Abstract

This paper is about famous Urdu literary digest "Awadh Punch" published from Lucknow India. This digest/magazine consists on humour and satirical essays. It has great impact on Urdu literature. The reason of importance has been discussed in this paper. The starting and development period of this digest has been analysed. Where poetry, fiction, criticism plays a vital role in literature. On the other side literary digest also presents the contemporary writer’s work and critic’s point of view. There is no doubt, Awadh Punch has played great contribution in Urdu language and literature.
