Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) In Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL)

Abstract

The current research delves into the realm of information and communication technology (ICT) in teaching English as a second language (ESL). Employing a qualitative research method, the study unfolded in the backdrop of Khairpur Mir's Sindh, focusing on a diverse population of 30 teachers from various departments of the university. This research sought to understand the nuances of ICT in language classes. Data collection was conducted through online sources like; WhatsApp and email, targeting Teachers. A qualitative approach was taken using a 3-point Likert scale to gather responses, and the collected data underwent thorough statistical analysis presented in columns. The study's outcomes were the confirmatory, indicating that the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) proves beneficial for English Language teachers. Furthermore, the results suggest that Teachers can effectively harness ICT to ameliorate their overall communication skills, highlighting the promising potential of ICT in language education. It fosters to save time and give sufficient help to transfer detailed knowledge in short span of time. Further, this study is beneficial for future researchers, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
